[숙제3] Comes out of the closet

 

 

'커밍아웃 했다.'라는 한국 표현으로만 알고 있었는데 영어 문장으로 읽으니 새롭다.

 

Comes out of the closet 은 레즈비언, 게이, 양성애자, 트렌스젠더임을 밝히는 표현이다.

1. No offense but ~: 뭐라고 하는 건 아니지만..(미리 양해구하기)

No offense but women don't go to the army.

No offense but you doesn't know anything about men.

No offense 에 대한 대답: No offense is taken 을 줄여 None taken 이라고 한다.

None taken : 뭐라고 하는거 아니야.

 

2. Now that (문장) : 이제 ~니까 / 지금 ~ 하니까

Now that I think about it, it is ok to hire him.

Now that I can speak English well, I will travel to America.

Now that I know he is gay, I won't make fun of gays anymore.

Now that I am done with my college entrance exam, I can have some fun.

 

3. Who's gonna (동사) : 누가~ 할거야? / 부정적뉘앙스로, 누가 ~ 하겠어?

Who's gonna clean up the table?

Who's gonna tell the teacher that we didn't do our homework?

Who's gonna pay for the dinner?

Who's gonna love such a terrible man?

Who's gonna eat dog food?

 

My answer:

Even if my best friend comes out of the closet, I have no problem with him. It is no crime to love another person. The different thing is the gender of the person who I and my friend love. I love my girlfriend, but I have female friends. In t he same sense, although my friend love man, I can keep friendship with him. However, If he asks me out on a date, I am sorry to refuse the ask. Also, I am not sure I can maintain a friendship with him. It is not why to love sam gender, because he loves me and I don't love him. It is a similar situation as since I ask a close female friend out and I get dumped, we will be awkward.
